Focus + Finance was founded in 2006 in New York, recognizing the need for creatives to work with like-minded finance professionals who are sensitive to the needs of their unique business.

 

This family-owned firm consists of me — Debbie Davies — my husband Dmitrii Kamyshkov, and son Devan Davies. Our team works exclusively with creative professionals, specializing in industry-specific bookkeeping, production accounting, and forensic auditing. Because we are also artists, we understand the language artists speak.

 

I'm a visual artist and gallerist who has worked as a producer, artist rep, and studio manager. I also worked in marketing and advertising. I handled my own bookkeeping while running a NYC production firm, an artist agency, and two art galleries. I realized that although bookkeeping wasn't difficult for me, many of my fellow artists struggled with the language of finance.

 

We specialize in creative industries and know how to communicate in a way that makes clients feel comfortable. Photographers, designers, producers, stylists, and other artists require communication with a financial team who understands their business, and how best to organize financial records, without taking the focus away from your creative work. We provide services with a flexible schedule so you can use us as little or as often as you need to. We work fully remotely from Berlin, Germany — having moved from Brooklyn during the pandemic. We use QuickBooks Online and BlinkBid software, and utilize cloud-based file sharing to keep your books reconciled. We also help clients develop custom systems for their team to stay organized and ahead of deadlines. Production accounting is our forte, and we wrap productions quickly and efficiently, so our clients are able to confidently move on to their next project. While we do not file tax returns, we work closely with our clients' tax accountants to audit data prior to preparing tax returns. We can connect you with experienced tax accountants in our network, or work with your current accountant.
